House rewiring in Wicklow
Older wiring can struggle with the way a house is used today. We carry out full and partial rewires on homes and properties across Wicklow, planned around you so disruption is kept to a minimum and every circuit is tested before we finish.

What's involved
Wiring in older homes was put in for a fraction of the appliances, chargers and heating controls a household runs today. Signs a house may need rewiring include an old fuse board with rewireable fuses, no RCD protection, scorch marks or warm sockets, flickering lights, and old rubber- or fabric-covered cable.
A full rewire replaces the cabling, sockets, switches and fuse board throughout the house. A partial rewire covers part of a property, such as an extension, a kitchen or a single floor. Either way, we plan the work with you first: where sockets and lights should go, what stays live while we work, and how to keep dust and disruption down.
Every circuit is tested before we finish, and we walk you through the new board and what each switch does.

Rewires: common questions
Something not covered here? Get in touch and ask.
How long does a house rewire take?
It depends on the size of the house, whether it's lived in during the work and how much making good is needed. Most full rewires of a typical family home take several days rather than weeks. You'll get a timeline with your quote.
Can we stay in the house during a rewire?
Often, yes. We can work room by room and restore power at the end of each day where possible. For larger jobs it can be easier to move out for part of the work, and we'll talk that through with you.
Do I need a new fuse board?
Usually, with a full rewire. A modern consumer unit with RCD protection is part of bringing an installation up to current standards. For a partial rewire, we'll tell you whether yours can stay.
